Portrait Commissions

Greetings!

Portraits are great gifts and heirlooms to pass down generationally. They are a great way to preserve memories of loved ones. Therefore, I take great pride and care in my process and the outcome. I have been practicing 20+ years and hold a BA and MFA in drawing and painting. I use archival, high quality materials. Each portrait is a unique process therefore I advise potential clients reach out to discuss your needs. I have listed a couple of sample prices below to help clients gauge cost for the sake of convenience.

Thank you,

Bryan

All drawing commissions (graphite, charcoal, or sanguine) start at $300 at the size of 14 by 18 inches for a single subject

Oil or acrylic painting commissions start at $500 for a size of 12 by 16 inches. (this is a basic head painting)

A general portrait which is roughly 3/4 figure and 24 by 30 inches runs approx. $3000

* All prices listed are for single figures. Add 50% for each additional figure.

The typical process for a commissioned portrait is as follows:

  • -  Consultation: a conversation about the scope of the project. The client either provides photos for

the artist to consider or the artist and client discuss the potential for the artist to take his own photos,

arrange for a preliminary sitting, or another feasible arrangement.

  • - Artist and client agree upon a size and time frame for the portrait. Next, the artist provides a

proposed composition in the form of a rough sketch for approval prior to beginning the painting.

This sketch may be in the form of a Photoshop mockup.

  • -  Upon approval, the artist gets to work on the painting and sends a photo when the portrait is

around 90% complete so the client can provide final feedback prior to fully completing the project. The artist agrees to one revision after agreed-upon completion. Further revisions would be an additional charge.

  • -  Once final approval is given, the artist ships the completed portrait to the client.
A 50% deposit (non-refundable) will be due in advance. Balance due at the completion of commission and acceptance by the
    client.

    Not Included in Price:

Framing, shipping/crating, artist's travel expenses, and sales tax.
